Third time’s a charm?

Well I got to my third glaze firing with the older tested glazes and three new ones brought to me by a friend who was visiting the UK. I was able to fire a number of my own pieces and the work done by my daughter and her friends at the beginning of the month.

I have to say that I have a selection which worked really well and others that could definitely have gone better. unfortunately I also suffered again from a couple of glazes running onto the kiln shelves, I think need to be a little less generous in the glaze application.

Below is the gallery of the pots, again I would appreciate any feedback on those you like, and those you don’t. I have included all the pieces including the test pots with the new glazes.

Also included here is the work by my daughter and her friends, which I trimmed and glazed for them, which I will be bringing back to the UK at Christmas.

Having spent 5 wonderful years in France I have moved to Suffolk in UK. I am looking forward to creating and sharing a new range of ceramics and pottery.

  1. These all look great, Peter! Progress on all fronts and some lovely results. Difficult to pinpoint a favourite as I can’t seem to enlarge the images, but for me, I like the strong colours, eg of 1,2 3 4, 6,7, 11, 12, 13 14, 15 and 16. I also prefer (what appear to be) the finer lines of 9, 11, 12 13 and 14, although again, its tricky to work that out from the photos… Well done and keep working at it! You’ll be setting up shop very soon! Xx

  2. Ok I have logged in now so I can see the photos clearer. They look great, as I said, well done! My favourites would be:9, 11,13, 14, 15 and 16. The plate and saucer also look good and I love my own plate from your collection which I am using a lot at home! 🙂

  3. Hi Peter, l think l’ve mentioned before that l prefer the blues and greens of your work. They seem brighter and fresher somehow! I think my favourite so far though is no. 14 Brittany Night Sky.
